Maryland Man Charged with Speed to Elude, Obstruction on Richmond Highway

The suspect drove away when a motor officer attempted a traffic stop.

Police arrested Desmon Speight, 18, of Fort Washington, Md., Wednesday after a police pursuit on Richmond Highway. 

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a motor officer attempted to stop a driver in an SUV in the 6700 block of Richmond Highway near King's Crossing. However, the driver did not stop, according to police reports.

MPO Don Gotthardt said patrol officers observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop again and the drive fled again. Speight crashed the vehicle, got out and fled on foot, according to FCPD. Police were able to apprehend him in the 6200 block of Richmond Highway near the Office Depot.
