Tanger Outlets To Open Friday At National Harbor
The new outlet mall will open with special events and discounts ahead of next week's Black Friday shopping rush. The grand opening, expected to bring more than 900 jobs, also benefits the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
National Harbor's new Tanger Outlets shopping center will open at 9 a.m. Friday, with special events planned throughout the weekend along with a benefit for the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
The 340,000-square-foot outdoor mall will feature more than 85 outlet stores, the company's president and CEO, Steven B. Tanger, said in a press release.
The mall also is expected to generate more than 900 jobs, company officials said, boosting the region's economy through sales and property tax revenues. Those jobs include full-time and part-time retail management and sales positions.
"The opening of the Tanger Outlets National Harbor will have a major economic impact on Prince George's County and the state of Maryland," said Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. "These outlets will attract regional visitors, offer wonderful opportunities for our residents to 'shop local,' and, most importantly, create jobs for thousands of Prince George's County citizens."
In addition, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation has partnered with Tanger Outlets for the grand opening.
"The generous support provided to the foundation through the grand opening gala will allow our programs to make a greater impact on youth in the Prince George's County community," said Jane Rodgers, the founation's executive director.
The stores will be in full swing for the holiday shopping season, opening at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. The new shops will include White House Black Market, Calvin Klein, Gap, Halston Heritage, American Eagle Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, Theory, Elie Tahari, Brooks Brothers, Aeropostale, Coach, Hugo Boss, J. Crew, Peter Millar, Diane von Furstenberg, Le Creuset and others.
The grand opening schedule includes:
- Stores open, 9 a.m. Friday
- Official ribbon-cutting ceremony, 10 a.m. Friday
- Holiday fireworks presentation and music show, 7-10 p.m. Friday
- Holiday musical performances throughout grand opening weekend
- Fashionably Sparkling Photo Booth
