ReplyLooks like a good place for a new residential home/B&B or small boarding school. Quilt club retreat, maybe?

ReplySounds great. A good way to pull back from the overzealousness would be to go back to ONE practice and ONE game a week for kids in regular "house" leagues in elementary school ("travel" leagues would remain the more intense groups for those wanting more days on the field or court). Also, redo the leagues so the games are local if the kids aren't in a travel league. For most sports - the ones with a ton of teams - parents shouldn't have to drive young kids all over the place to go to the practices and games. Those two changes would cut way back on the intensity that's fueling the craziness of the modern kids-in-sports situation.

ReplyExactly what Reston does NOT need: 20,000+ new people who aren't at all invested in the idea of Reston. Start building a new western high school now, please, or my kids will be wall-to-wall with other kids the whole time they're in school :-< Really obnoxious for people who've been involved with this area for 20-30-more years, to be squeezed because of greedy developers and officials' plans to "grow" the area. How about doing what's good for people who already live in the area and whose kids already go to school in the area?

ReplyFrom the above: "Opt out of pre-approved credit applications by calling 888-567-8688." Called that number; first thing they do is ask for your SSN.

Reply$15000 among ten parties - who has a $1500 party for their kid?
If they want to help kids who really need a party, how about working with Reston Interfaith or a similar group to host parties for kids who have to live in the shelters?

ReplyWe feel for you here in Fairfax County. When there were fewer neighborhoods near us, my neighborhood used to all go to one elementary, one middle, and one high school when we moved in. Many more neighborhoods have since been built nearby. Now our neighborhood is all at one different (closer) middle school that has since been built, which is fine with us, but we've been split up into two elementaries (three if you count the GT center school) and two or three high schools. The middle school pulls from several communities, some of which go to different elementaries, and feeds into four (five?) high schools. It's rather a mess.

ReplyHugely overdone for our area. That said, how about someone turning it into a lovely B&B or conference center?
