Powerball Jackpot Soars to $600M for Saturday Drawing

Virginia has produced several $1 million winners and one Powerball jackpot winner. If you draw the Powerball winning numbers in Saturday’s lottery, the one-time payout could be almost $377 million.

  After no one picked all five winning numbers and the Powerball, the new Powerball prize for the Saturday, May 19 drawing is an estimated $600 million—the third-largest Powerball prize in the history of the game. Virginia is no stranger to Powerball winners. In addition to several $1 million winners, Dave and Nancy Honeywell of Fredericksburg took a $136 million cash payout in February of this year. A person from Christiansburg won $1 million in Wednesday night's drawing. The one-time cash payout is estimated at $376.9 million. UPDATE: No Powerball Winner; Estimated Saturday Jackpot $475 Million

Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Arlington

Someone who bought a ticket at a 7-Eleven in Arlington won $1 million in the Powerball drawing Wednesday night.

If you bought a Powerball ticket at the 7-Eleven at 5267 Lee Highway in Arlington, you may want to check your tickets. John Hagerty, spokesman for Virginia Lottery, said there was a $1 million ticket sold there. That's the closest to the Alexandria area any $1 million winning ticket was sold. There were also $1 million tickets sold in Richmond, Daleville and Harrisonburg, according to lottery spokesman John Hagerty.  The winning tickets of the $580 million jackpot were sold in Missouri and Arizona.  The winning numbers were 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and the Powerball number was 6. Hagerty said between Oct. 3 and Nov. 28, Virginia raised $13.3 million in profit from the sale of lottery tickets. He said by law, that money must go to K-12 education. …

Did Someone Win Powerball?

The Powerball website was down for a bit late Wednesday night as millions checked to see if they won the $580 million Powerball jackpot.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Two people—one from Arizona, one from Missouri—have won the the record-breaking $580 million Powerball jackpot, according to lottery officials. The winning numbers for the Wednesday, Nov. 28 drawing were: 5  23  16  22  29 with Powerball number 6. In Virginia, taking a lump sum payment would have meant getting a check for $255,742,000, according to a Powerball Jackpot analysis by USAMega.com.
