Wife of U.S. Senate candidate George Allen says her husband has the right recipe to create a better, more robust climate for small firms.

Susan Allen brought the Virginia Voices tour to Old Town on Thursday, meeting with women small business owners and outlining how her husband, Senate candidate George Allen, would create a better small business environment. “We’re in a climate that’s not favorable to small businesses,” she told the crowd at King Street Blues, adding that during her tour throughout the state she repeatedly hears from small business owner who are frustrated that banks aren’t lending, federal policies are restrictive and that they can’t afford health insurance. King Street Blues owner Lisa Capobianco said recent harmful federal regulations made it harder for her to hire new employees “in order to help us give customers the service and hospitality they have …

I would respectfully ask Ms. Capobianco what specific federal regulations she refers to that make it more difficult for her to hire employees. I like King Street Blues and have eaten there many times....but I would still like to know what federal regs she doesn't like. And how can we expect George Allen to change that?   more ›

The actual building was constructed during the depression when the WPA was in place to put people back to work on highways, bridges, buildings, etc. The way you can tell is there is a cupala on the top of the school making note of who built it. George Allen’s Secret Weapon: Susan Allen

Family is in Senate race ‘110 percent’ after ‘06 campaign led to ‘toughest year of our lives’

As George Allen roams the state of Virginia in his quest for a second chance to reclaim his seat in the U.S. Senate, he invariably begins many of his sentences with “Susan and I…” Susan is the former Susan Brown, now Susan Allen, his wife of 25 years, former first lady of Virginia, mother of three and self-described “sidekick” on the campaign trail. The two are a little Bill and Hill, a little Ron and Nancy. “After losing in 2006, we never envisioned him running again,” Susan Allen said in a recent interview at Hollin Hall Pastry Shop in Fort Hunt near the Allens’ home in Mount Vernon. Susan Allen Campaigns for GOP Candidates at Farmers Market

Former first lady of Virginia, Susan Allen, greeted shoppers Wednesday morning at the weekly farmers market.

It was a soggy morning on Wednesday, but local residents who frequent the Mount Vernon Farmers' Market were treated to an appearance by former Virginia first lady Susan Allen, wife of former Republican Gov. George Allen, who is running for the U.S. Senate.  Susan Allen talked up local candidates and local issues with shoppers at the market, held weekly at the Sherwood Regional Library parking lot, 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane. The Allens live in Mount Vernon and have three children. George Allen served in the U.S. Senate from 2001-2007, but lost a reelection bid in 2006 to Sen. Jim Webb, a Democrat. With Webb announcing his retirement from the Senate earlier this year, Allen is campaigning for his old job. The election is set for November 2012…
