Metropolitan Fine Arts Center Students to Perform at National Christmas Tree Program

Dancers from the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center in Kingstowne will perform Sunday, Dec. 23 at National Christmas Tree program.

Students from local dance studio, Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, will perform Sunday, Dec. 23 at the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., a program coordinated by the National Park Service. Member of the studio's Frosty Follies jazz ensemble were selected to perform at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 in what will be their eighth year performing at the National Christmas Tree. In all, more than 40 dancers from the dance center will showcase their talents in a live tap dance. Q&A: Fort Hunt Dancer Tiffany Chatfield Takes the Stage

Chatfield, 12, will perform later this month for the first time at the Kennedy Center.

By day, Sandburg Middle School seventh-grader Tiffany Chatfield is a dedicated student. After school, Chatfield devotes her afternoon to perfecting her craft, spending hours in a dance studio. Chatfield rehearses at the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, where she studies ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and modern dance. She recently performed as Arabian in the MFAC performance of The Nutcracker, and she will perform as a "snow kid" in "Frosty’s Follies" and appear later this month at the Washington Choral Society’s performance at the Kennedy Center. She is also performing in Nutcracker in a Nutshell as Clara. Her mother, Janine Kovack, has spent the last decade supporting her daughter in her craft. Although Tiffany is 12, she dances at the …
