Fort Hunt ‘Mom-Owned’ Business Ranks Nationally

Fort Hunt resident Amy Fazackerley, who created the portable Lay-n-Go organizational bag along with her husband, Adam, has ranked nationally in StartupNation.com’s 2012 Leading Moms in Business competition. Other ranked Virginia firms included Curtians Up! of Leesburg, Milkin’ Cookies of Roanoke and TreatmentDiaries.com, a health-based social media company with users in 132 countries. Fort Hunt Couple Finds Success in ‘Lay-n-Go’

Husband and wife developed dual tote bag, play surface for toys.

Adam and Amy Fazackerley quickly learned that Legos and Oriental carpets make a bad combination. The Fazackerleys, Fort Hunt parents of three boys age 8 and younger, had begun to dread picking up after their children after they spread the tiny toys around the carpet.  Amy searched for something that would organize the toys better than bins but came up short. “When I heard every morning — when they would start to get those bins out — I thought, ‘Oh please, not the Legos. Don’t get those out. Anything but those,’” Amy said. “And then I’m thinking, 'Why am I doing that?
