Costco Hiring for Positions; No Opening Date Officially Announced

Unofficially, Costco employee at Pentagon City store says Richmond Highway location will open in August.

While a large sign at the work site of the soon-to-be new Costco at 7940 Richmond Highway reads "Opening Spring 2013," like a lot of construction projects, the muddy, fenced location for the new mega-store looks as if it's going to take a little longer. How long? Patch was told Monday by a Pentagon City Costco employee that the date for the opening is August 8, but Patch could not confirm that date with the corporate headquarters in Washington state. In the meantime, the new Costco-to-be looks to be hiring, according to its Web site, which features a large list of job openings for the Richmond Highway location.  The membership warehouse club is looking to hire everything from cake decorators to forklift drivers to meat cutters to tire …

Costco Construction Progressing as Planned

Supervisor Jeff McKay said the construction is currently on schedule.

The construction on Costco Wholesale is still on schedule and the store is slated to open in spring or early summer, said Supervisor Jeff McKay in a recent interview. SFDC Marketing and Communications Director David Ben told Patch a few weeks ago that the ground at the location was being allowed to properly settle and the building itself won't take long to build. McKay said some people may have thought the construction progress was stalled because they went in early and tore down the old multiplex. "For environmental reasons they had to allow the site to sit for six months," McKay said. "In addition to that, because of some of the freezing temperatures we've had, they made a strategic decision to delay some of the other construction until …

No, it will not have a gas station. I attended a presentation by Costco officials of their plans during the application process. Their plans did not include a gas station. Road Improvements Coming to New Costco Intersection

The company is paying for the new features, according to county.

Costco Wholesale, set to open in 2013, will make a number of transportation and transit improvements at its new location on Richmond Highway. Since the new business was announced, some local residents have feared more congestion will surround the Richmond Highway/Ladson Lane intersection to the southeast of the Costco property. Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay said while some drivers may remain frustrated, Costco’s improvements are better than the alternative. “I’m glad we’re getting some improvements to this, in that, without Costco, we probably never would have gotten,” he said. McKay added: “Obviously, there’s going to be more traffic in the area, but one of the things I think people often forget was, it was not a Costco or nothing. …
