Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation and The Beacon of Groveton will host an open house event from 4-7 p.m. May 21 at the apartment community. This event will be the first in a series of spring events hosted by SFDC, according to a recent news release. The event is free and open to the public. During the open house, there will be feature food tastings from area restaurants, giveaways, an opportunity to learn more about local businesses and developments and a chance to tour The Beacon of Groveton, Richmond Highway's first mixed-use development. SFDC has added a second bus for the tour.
Spaces are still available for the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation (SFDC) multi-family bus tour on Sept. 22. SFDC has added a second bus to the tour due to high demand for the tour. "After recieving more than 50 RSVPs for this event, SFDC has decided to add a second bus to meet the strong demand for this tour," read an email sent by SFDC on Monday. The free tour will take guests through the new The Beacon of Groveton apartments on Richmond Highway. The tour will also visit the Courts at Huntington Station and 800 Carlyle apartment buildings. The tour will take place on Sept. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided. RSVPs are due by Sept. 14. To RSVP, email David Ben at david.ben@sfdc.org.

New mixed-use development on Route 1 is currently leasing apartments.
The Beacon of Groveton mixed-use development on Route 1 has begun leasing top-level space and is offering tours for prospective residents. The development, a joint project of Redbrick Development Group and Wood Partners, includes 290 units, which occupy six floors on a total of eight levels, and ground-level retail. Property Manager Kim Martin said Saturday she could not comment on prospective retail tenants but said she hoped to bring in a restaurant that would deliver to residents. The development also includes a six-level parking garage. The development sits on the grounds of the old Beacon Airfield location and will incorporate airfield art into the development’s decor, Martin said. Managers are also working with Old Town’s Torpedo …
