Coaches' Corner: West Potomac Versus Annandale

This week, the Wolverines will take on the Atoms.

The West Potomac Wolverines are scheduled to go head-to-head with the Annandale Atoms Friday, Sept. 28. at 7:30 p.m. at Annandale High School, located at 4700 Medford Drive. West Potomac head coach Jeremiah Davis referred to Annandale as a "tough, scrappy team." Davis said Annandale has a great quarterback combination in Nolan Gilbert and Steve Schwartz. "This year, their offense has been more productive and able to capitalize on opponents' mistakes which makes them more of a challenge," Davis said in a recent email. "Defensively safety Jack Johnson has been a thorn in West Potomac’s side for four years and upfront Brian Jefferson will have to be accounted for." The West Potomac Wolverines lose their first game of the 2012 season to the Lake Braddock Bruins, 37-23.

West Potomac's football team went head-to-head with Lake Braddock Friday night in a home game and lost, 37-23. Although the Wolverines started the first half strong, the Bruins' defense gave them trouble after halftime. Next week, Lake Braddock will take on T.C. Williams High in a home game, and West Potomac will go head-to-head in an away game against Annandale High. Read the full story here.

The West Potomac Wolverines fall short against the Lake Braddock Bruins during home game.

West Potomac's football team went head-to-head with Lake Braddock and lost, 37-23, during a home game Friday night. Although the Wolverines started the first half strong, the Bruins' defense gave them trouble after halftime. During the first quarter, West Potomac's Demornay Pierson-el scored the first touchdown, quickly setting the pace for the game. Kicker Chris Blewitt made the field goal, making the score early in the game 7-0 in West Potomac's favor. "A lot of us have watched him [Pierson-el] for years, and he's a great player," said West Potomac's Freshman Head Coach Dale Roach. West Potomac Wolverines Get New Football Coach

Former Penn State defensive lineman Jeremiah Davis to take over program rocked by controversy.

Jeremiah Davis, a former defensive lineman and 2004 graduate at Penn State, has been named the new football coach for the West Potomac Wolverines. Davis, 29, comes to the job from his high school alma mater, Annandale High School, where he has worked as co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach since 2005, according to the Washington Post. Davis will coach at a school where controversy swirled this spring when FCPS decided not to renew the coaching contract of Eric Henderson, a history teacher who steered the football program with much success. Henderson responded to an e-mail controversy, but no reason was officially given for letting him go from the coaching position. Come fall, the team will be without two players—quarterback …
