The mom's time had come and the daughter seems to have accepted that..since there was no foul playRead More indicated I see only a delay in calling 911....but if they took her to hospital the medics would have attempted to extend her life at tremendous cost for no good reason....this happened to a neighbor living alone and no one was charged with any crime even though her body was not discovered until neighbors called 911 some time later...message: no good deed goes unpunished....

She left her mother on the floor for a couple of days, Lewis. If Mom had wanted to die instead ofRead More recieving life supporting measures, the daughter could have at least put her in the bed or made her comfortable. Instead, this appears to be the case that the daughter just decided to be indifferent to her mother's precarious situation. BTW, if this had been an infant that had fallen on the floor and was left to die, would you take the same position?

Caring for someone else is a HUGE burden, even if it is someone you love with all of your heart. InRead More this area, supports are not always easy to get, and people often do not reach out for help because they don't even know help exists. We do not know the full story, and I refuse to pretend to know what to think about this without more information.
The fire was located in the vicinity of Mary Baldwin Drive and Kenyon Drive.

Oh and wHen the revenue collection officer asks to search your. Vehicle , " I don't consent toRead More searches " is what you need to practice saying . If you have something obviously illegal in plain sight they can seach. Otherwise you have to give Them permission. Which they need or they wouldn't be ASKING. They'd be telling you they're gonna search . When you refuse them permission they will huff and puff and threaten to call in the drug dog. Blah blah.blah Bring it on steroid head . Then you say "am I under arrest or am I free to go?".
Pam Hamburg April 24, 2014 at 09:28 am
userbronco, you are 110% right. They have NO right to search your vehicle. Of course, they areRead More allowed to peer through the glass to see what they can see, but without a suspicion or proof, they have no right searching your glove compartment, trunk, etc. Yes, say 'am I being detained or am I free to go'? Also, don't roll your window down all the way...you don't have to. About 4 or 5 inches suffices. Stand firm with that one. Be polite, but be firm. Be quiet except when asked a question, then use good judgment in answering. Keep saying 'am I being detained or am I free to go'? Holding court on the side of the road is not a good idea. If they persist in asking you if they can search your vehicle, politely tell them they will have to get a warrant. At all times, be courteous, but FIRM. Know your rights!

It's a touchy situation. You want to be as unrememberable as possible to the cop. So when orRead More if you go to court all he wilremember is what he reads in his notebook. That you can request to see by by the way You want to be unrememberable , don't say anything, unless they ask you a question , then use short answers , yes or no will usually suffice, be polite but don't say "sir" a thousand times. I don't say it at all. Make it look like your kissing up . I personally treat cops like I would treat a rattlesnake 96% of the people who are bitten by a rattlesnake are harassing the snake at the time Keep an eye out for them. And don't harass them. You WILL lose any contest with a cop. Even if it's a ego contest on the side of the road . Extra cops are only seconds away and they will beat you up or kill you in a flash if you tick em off Plenty if dash cam and cell phone video to prove it They are kinda like dogs, some are really smart, some are really dumb, but all of em are dangerous in groups or if they feel threatened or if they sense fear in you. Or if they think their getting an easy meal

Not at all surprising. It was just a matter of time before criminals recognized Kings Crossing as aRead More ripe opportunity--the design of this development welcomes crime, with no clear view of its businesses from Rte. 1. And to think that this piece of property at one time was slated to become a lovely park space surrounded by upscale mixed use development...but thanks to the trailer park behind the Walmart, we can maintain the low quality that defines South Alexandria’s Rte. 1 corridor and ramp up its crime profile. As if we needed a second Walmart on Rte. 1 and a series of new fast food restaurants. Good luck to those who venture to this development--expect more incidents like these to take place.

Vincent Careatti, I see your posts and they are either about I-66 or Route 7. it seems you get offRead More the I-66 to get onto local roads when I-66 backs up. Does that make you want to use cut through and speed? Sounds like it to me. I want the police to keep an eye on you. Because of your cut through driving, you make it very unsafe for my neighbors children, the elderly and myself. Stay on your I-66 commuter traffic route and stay the heck out of places you don't belong. You are making things worst being there. You are the traffic many people don't want driving in their neighborhoods. You don't live there, don't visit or do business there, so you just don't belong there.
Lisa April 6, 2014 at 11:46 am
Part of the problem is the length of the traffic cycles. Miss the light and one can end up waiting 5Read More minutes to get going again, and in some cases have to go through multiple cycles to get through the intersection. In our society of impatience, people start doing other things like texting and reading email, then continue to finish up what they are doing once the traffic moves again. I see that every morning that I drive to work.
Alvin Clinton Hicks, Jr. April 6, 2014 at 09:27 pm
All this is simply proof that the regions police departments are not doing their jobs. All policeRead More officers are responsible to traffic duty when on duty. Most have an attitude to justify not doing this responsibly. Yet the death toll and injury toll is rising in every region across the nation. The last year's death toll was over 43,000. With serious injury's in the hundreds of thousands! And Fairfax is no exception. Most police officers think that they are supposed to get paid overtime on what is called 'auxilary' traffic duty assignments on $overtime$. And the dispatch offices are in on it as well. They get thousands of calls daily with traffic complaints directly involving improper Motor Vehicle Operator driving in any given area thru out Fairfax and most go ignored. Yet someone will call in a redundant call by comparison and the patrolling officers on duty will respond to it instead of the thousands involving even reckless driving reports! Bottom line? It is such gross negligence it is simply criminal in and upon itself! Emails. Written letters. Phone call reports about same being received about Motor Vehicle Operator small and big infractions and what is being done about it? A patrol officer will be sent out to investigate a kitty cat being stuck in a tree instead by dispatch, backed up by the on duty officer of the shift? And what is the departments sworn duty and oat to office and position? "To Serve and Protect". And what major subject issue is killing and injuring people more than any other? The Motor Vehicle Operator.

If a dog bites a person, it's euthanized. If a human kills another person via their job duties,Read More they're eventually put right into an office environment. I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.
