What about Sarvis.. who is on the ballot as an additional option to voters?
Hawa Coulibaly July 24, 2014 at 04:44 pm
Two great candidates but Mr. Warner will win. He's done great work representing Virginia...
Chris Connell July 24, 2014 at 05:07 pm
Warner and Gillespie are unwilling and afraid to debate Sarvis because he will call them out andRead More make them look stupid. In a free society all voices and ideas would be made available to the voters. Unfortunately the democrats and republicans have high jacked the debates for their own gains.

Just as I thought, option number two. ----- Well LJM I don't really care what you want. As far asRead More I'm concerned from here on out you can listen to the crickets cause THEY are going to be the only ones answering you.
Jody July 24, 2014 at 09:30 pm
Ska, you miss the point so often, it's not much use to try to educate you. EncouragingRead More self-deportation is much more cost effective instead of the total encouragement and subsidization coming from this administration. The only thing I think we agreed on was the need for mandatory e-verify. My simple point was that with fewer low-skill workers, the US low-skill workers would be more in demand and employers would have to pay more to attract employees-- hence more money for our own poor. If the fed. "government" refuses to squeeze illegals out of our job market and wants to give people a raise irrespective of what an employer can pay, they could increase the EIC. This wouldn't penalize employers who can't afford to pay their employees more. Funny how the federal employees in the DC area get bonus pay for living in a high cost area when they cause the area to be high cost with their high fed. govt. wages in the first place. Those poor federal workers need their living wage though, right?

I wonder why Obama put the Census Bureau under the executive branch and away from Commerce Dept.Read More authority? Misuse of power. Who knows what they're doing to any numbers. You saw their scheme to use the IRS to harass GOP donors and conservative 503(c) applicants. I wouldn't put anything past this Chicago-style corrupt administration.

Too many abuses of power to leave Dems in majority of the Senate. The country is at a tipping point.Read More This coming election in Nov. is pivital. Ed Gillespie is the guy for this one.
Hawa Coulibaly June 17, 2014 at 01:40 pm
You are right about abuse of power, but both parties are guilty...
Eric Cantor has lost a Republican primary in Virginia to tea party candidate Dave Brat. Official U.S. House photo
Patrick J June 13, 2014 at 05:02 pm
I'm sorry Chris but the Dems don't want any common ground. Remember Obamacare? The Senate passedRead More their Bill on Christmas Eve! Does that sound like people who want to find common ground? The only common ground they seek is when it's to their objectives. Whenever Republicans have any advantage, then the Media and the Dems talk about common ground. It's nothing but a ploy to back off our principles. That's why the defeat of Cantor raised so many eyebrows because no one thought he would lose. And it worries people like Wallst and company. Elections are contests of ideas. We shouldn't elect people to reach across the aisle because it doesn't work. Otherwise, people like Dole and McCain would have won.
Chris June 13, 2014 at 05:23 pm
I see your point. But just remember although the media reports that Brat is far right supported, itRead More appears he is actually not literally a tea partier. I'm glad he won. Overall I feel we need to reign in an out of control government. I'm not saying compromise your values - just chose battles wisely because if it's an "all of nothing" attitude I believe it will alienate the liberal vote. If you want to get in office go for the bigger issues at this time and don't hyper focus on reproductive rights and marriage etc... Several republicans I know feel this way.
Wallst June 13, 2014 at 06:39 pm
Patrick, I am completely satified with Cantor losing. It means that the GOP is TOTALLY controlled byRead More the Tea Party and there are NO moderates (Snowe, etc.) left and this is GREAT news for Dems. The GOP has closed their tent down to the size of a small teepee, and that will never work in a national election. Just think Romney and how Karl Rove had him as a sure bet. LOL

Congrats to Mr. Beyer. He will make a great addition to congress!
T Ailshire June 11, 2014 at 07:25 am
Given there's essentially no difference between Beyer and Moran, voters have chosen stagnationRead More rather than progress.

What are your thoughts on the Corruption we have in the City of Alexandria Court house? The FraudRead More on the Court - The Treason on the Court in Virginia should not be swept under the carpet any longer. If you don't believe this can happen to you - I wish the best for you - Because I believed that also. I never believed the corruption could go this deep. The FBI says public corruption can occur "when a public official, at any level of government – local, state or federal – does any official act in exchange for money, or other free goods or services, for private gain. Public corruption could also include public employees who take something of value for their own personal gain, thereby violating the public's trust." The FBI says many of their investigations into public corruption start once they receive a tip from someone. If you want to help identify potential criminal activity, the Washington Field Office has set up a Northern Virginia Public Corruption Hotline at 703-686-6225 and you can also e-mail them at NOVAPC@ic.fbi.gov. Some of the examples of corruption include: • Government officials such as DMV employees, city inspectors, taxing or zoning assessors or other regulatory agency employees, or even town councils or mayors; • Contracting officials at all levels, including those who manage government contracts or regulatory permits; or, school resource officers who manage school accounts; • Local officials colluding with real estate investors to rig the bidding process at foreclosure auctions; • A person representing the judicial branch - a judge, member of the jury or court personnel; or, • A person representing law enforcement, who steals drugs from criminals, embezzles government funds, falsifies records or smuggles contraband Tell the Judges – They do not have Absolute Judicial Immunity – Judge’s should and by law are held accountable – But, we need to be sure they understand that. I know first hand that the court system is corrupt. I currently have a case against Arlington CountyRead More Department of Human Services and Virginia Department of Social Services. I'm suing them because they sabotaged and abused me while volunteering there. My case is in the court of appeals. The circuit court of Arlington is just as corrupt if not worst than Alexandria. The Chief Judge, Judge T. Newman, is a former Arlington County Board Member. During my hearing in which the Lawyer for the County, Christine Sanders and the lawyer for the state, Michelle L'hommedieu requested for a dismissal of my case, the judge showed that he had no intention in being objective. He didn't give me a chance to state my case, he quickly ruled in their favor. That was after he stated that he was once a board member. The interesting thing about that is that, I've been very outspoken against our current corrupt and arrogant board members and it was clear that the judge was aware of that. The reason I've been outspoken against them is because I contacted them several times at the beginning of my case, before it went to court, and they never responded. I wish you luck with your case.

Beyer is a great candidate. Some who oppose him, give his age and the fact that those who earnRead More seniority through the years, are more effective, but I don't agree. He already has the right connections in federal government that will allow him to become effective from day one.

Great Q&A; Lavern Charman seems like a great candidate. She should do more question and answersRead More so more people can get a better understanding of her as a candidate.
Paul Lachelier May 29, 2014 at 09:59 am
Having heard next to nothing about Lavern Chatman before reading this interview, I checked out herRead More website, and was impressed. I have to admit it does matter to me that she's a woman given there aren't enough women in Congress, and women, I sense, are more likely to advocate for the poor and disenfranchised, not just the middle class. But it also helps that she herself comes from humble middle class origins, was the first in her family to get a college degree, has deep roots in NOVA, and has established herself as a connected community leader. It also doesn't hurt that I can't find one issue I disagree with her on at her website. Check her out: http://www.lavernchatman.com/. P.S. Believe it or not, I am not a volunteer or paid staffer for Chatman, just a citizen who wants my Congress to look like and speak for our diverse country.
oldtowner May 29, 2014 at 12:34 pm
It is not mentioned on the campaign trail, nor in forums, but you should carefully check out LavernRead More Chatman's past....she was convicted of fraud....by a court in D.C......back in 2001. The conviction was upheld by an Appeals Court in 2003. Why would we elect someone to Congress who has been convicted of fraud? Just Google "Lavern Chatman fraud."
