I've studied science and religion (many degrees, certifications etc.) taught religion, worked inRead More observatories, as an a night assistant and as an astronomer and I would like to know just what your belief system is. I suspect you are Hindu and you believe in Kali. When Obama laid of 50,000 of us working for NASA and affiliates, he then gave full four year scholarships to 20,000 Hindu interns that took our NASA careers. I was told this from directly within the Indian Government because I moderate an international group for astronomy and aerospace technology. We here going to continue funding the ISS while handing our seat over to that government yet retain the sole cost of removing it when it is retired. Meanwhile China, Russia and India each are working on their versions of our now retired space shuttle as we opt for technology obsoleted and shelved before our first shuttle launch. Now the Hindu from that group are calling the Christian faith a superstition (yeah, in a science and technology group) that needs to be wiped from the face of the Earth and replaced with the Mother Goddess Kali, also a Goddess of Death I believe. I get the impression you are one of those....??? Comet Hale Bopp was a somewhat recent (to me) comet that you could have photographed and measured its element and proved yourself wrong. You could still go back and look at photos other such as myself actually took. The amount of force it would have taken to blow a comet away from earth with that amount of mass and that type of velocity, would have left only rubble here. So a Kali believer right???? I don't suppose you are also a Thuggee? I just haven't quite heard your version of faith and science the way you have put it so I am curious.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

I am a Christian and have accepted Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God as my Lord andRead More Saviour. Some of you posting must not have actually heard what Pastor John Hagee said. What he said was, that when other blood moons ocurred that something significant ocurred regarding the Jews, the blood moon of 1492 and the expulsion edict to remove all Jews from Spain, the 1948 blood moon Israel became a nation, the 1967 blood moon and the six day war resulting in some Israeli land being reclaimed. Pastor Hagee said NOTHING about the end of the world ocurring to coincide with the four blood moons ( he did however say people would say he did - which looking at these posts some have misconstrued his words). Perhaps all the posters that are commenting on what Pastor Hagee said should actually hear what he said PRIOR to commenting/mocking/judging. Pastor Hagee and his statements. Perhaps, in time, we will see if the government of Israel has made a significant decision today. Personally (my very own personal opinion- no Biblical prophecy just me), I hope they decide NOT to ever release any more terrorists from prison to bribe the palestinians to "talk" about making a peace agreement.....just saying....

@Joanne Malia: What in the world are you trying to say? Obviously you and a couple of others on thisRead More thread have issues with Republicans. That's fine. But the topic is paternity leave and a thoughtless remark made by a sports commentator. People make fools of themselves regardless of their party affiliation. Please don't judge people or make nasty remarks like the one you posted here. It shows shallowness and immaturity. I hope you are a better person than your comment makes you out to be.

$1.00 surcharge for using the paper fare card purchased at the gate, you got to be kidding me. TheRead More metro has lied about not seeking funds to complete the rail. Va has done many taxes that is suppose to fund this rail and still loses money on it.

Our nation has consistently maintained that parents possess a fundamental right to raise theirRead More children as they see fit. This belief has been upheld by our judiciary in numerous Supreme Court cases that reflect the American people's longstanding commitment to parental rights. Many believe that it is critical that we place the current Supreme Court doctrine on parental rights into the explicit text of the United States Constitution in order to preserve the vital child-parent relationship.
Wildermann March 16, 2014 at 07:06 pm
The law's concept of the family rests on a presumption that parents possess what a child lacks inRead More maturity, experience, and capacity for judgment required for making life's difficult decisions. More important, historically it has recognized that natural bonds of affection lead parents to act in the best interests of their children. The statist notion that governmental power should supersede parental authority in all cases because some parents abuse and neglect children is repugnant to American tradition. Simply because the decision of a parent is not agreeable to a child or because it involves risks does not automatically transfer the power to make that decision from the parents to some agency or officer of the state. - Parham v. J. R., 442 U.S. 584 (1979) The fundamental liberty interest of natural parents in the care, custody, and management of their child does not evaporate simply because they have not been model parents or have lost temporary custody of their child to the State. Even when blood relationships are strained, parents retain a vital interest in preventing the irretrievable destruction of their family life. Until the State proves parental unfitness, the child and his parents share a vital interest in preventing erroneous termination of their natural relationship. - Santosky v. Kramer, 455 U.S. 745 (1982) The liberty interest at issue in this case-the interest of parents in the care, custody, and control of their children-is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this Court. In light of this extensive precedent, it cannot now be doubted that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment protects the fundamental right of parents to make decisions concerning the care, custody, and control of their children. The problem here is not that the Washington Superior Court intervened, but that when it did so, it gave no special weight at all to Granville's determination of her daughters' best interests. More importantly, it appears that the Superior Court applied exactly the opposite presumption. The Due Process Clause does not permit a State to infringe on the fundamental right of parents to make childrearing decisions simply because a state judge believes a 'better' decision could be made. - Troxel v. Granville, 530 U.S. 57 (2000)

UNATTENDED - NOT CARED FOR - DESERTED - ALONE! Is there a LAW against leaving a child/toddler aloneRead More in their home ( so daddy can go out high and get drunk)? Is there a law against leaving a child/toddler alone in a store and leaving leaving them so you can go get high and drunk? Is there a law about leaving a child/toddler alone in a movie theater and leaving to go get high and drunk? Is there a law about leaving a child/toddler alone in a public park, airport, library, hospital, restaurant, sporting arena, Wal Mart, church, or on a street to go get high and drunk? NO? then let the guy go.... BUT..... if we think it is wrong to leave a child/toddler alone in any of the above places to go get drunk and get high and basically use the carseat as a babysitter then WE HAVE A PROBLEM! THIS was child abandoned, pure and simple. This child has already learned to not trust others. This child all ready knows the reality of not being loved. This child already has experienced what it means to be clateral baggage and he will never be the same. When we meet a person and wonder why they are so messed up now you know where it started. God help him.
