Entering Tippy's, one is struck by the aromatic scent of spices and simmering meat. This location is one of three in a small chain that has been in the area since the late 1950s. The secret to Tippy's taste is fresh ingredients which have never been frozen. All food is prepared fresh each day, and the menu offers very affordable tacos, chalupas, burritos, wraps, fajitas, enchiladas and taco salads. For those eating in, beer is available. For carry-out orders, Tippy's also offers taco kits for the family fun of making tacos at home.

This place is really cool. The man who runs this location is very hardworking and polite. There is also a lady who works in the kitchen who is also very hardworking and polite.

The food is good and always freshly made. It does not have the over-the-top seasonings of some of the chain Mexican places, but the taste is good & consistent; the prices are quite reasonable.

You order at the counter and pay, then one of the servers brings out the food in a few minutes. You leave your tray and cups on the table when you leave. Not quite fast food, not quite full service - 3/4 service maybe? Don't worry, it works fine.

Soft country music plays in the background which is a bit odd for a Mexican place, but I like it. The interior decor, while a bit dated, is very clean, with a mellow early 90's kind of Southwestern ambiance. It is usually not too crowded and service is quick. Sometimes it can get a little busy if you go right at dinner time. The daily specials include things like burritos, tacos and taco salads. You can go in and eat a big meal at Tippy's with a soda or ice tea (free refills) for around $7.

I used to go to Tippy's at least once a week for years when I worked in that area. Now that I don't get over there that much, I kind of miss the place.

Overall, a unique little place, I suggest you try it if you want a mellow place to chill, eat and read the paper in a non-HUGE RESTAURANT-enviroment.

Thanks Tippy's!
