A few weeks ago, I dropped off several items. After picking them up, I noticed one item (a sweater dress) had several holes in it on the back; one of which is the size of a half dollar. Disappointed because it was one of my favorite dresses (and also not cheap), I took it back to the cleaners. I have several friends who told me that their neighborhood cleaners had offered to compensate them for damaged clothing, especially if you were a regular customer. This is not what happened to me. First, the woman told me I had insects in my house; a remote possibility seeming as since I had last worn the item intact, the dress had spent more time at the cleaners waiting to be picked up than at my house. Additionally, the size of one of the holes is so large, I'd be searching for an insect the size of a small dog that could have eaten that much material in the 12 hours it sat in my house before I dropped it off to be cleaned. Then she pulled up my ticket in the computer and insinuated that I hadn't had the dress cleaned there since the ticket in the computer was written up as a "sweater" instead of a "sweater dress." It was ridiculous. My dress is ruined. I shelled out money for them to ruin it and then when I came back to bring it to their attention, the woman basically told me that I had probably worn it at my work function full of holes and not known it or accused me of lying that they had cleaned it. She was terribly unprofessional and I haven't been back since.
