Monday, Sept. 16

Freedom Theatre performs South African drama “The Island” at 7:30 p.m. Monday andTuesday at Georgetown University’s Davis Performing Arts Center, 37th and O streets, NW. The cost is $15, $12 for seniors, $7 for students. 202-687-2787.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Drink up and join the Arlington Food Assistance Center in taking action to fight hunger in the community. From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Dogfish Head Alehouse in Falls Church, 6363 Seven Corners Center, 20 percent of the proceeds will benefit AFAC.  The event includes a raffle and live music. 703-534-3342.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

Classical Music. Serbian flutist Andjela Bratic and Serbian pianist Jasna Popovic perform at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage at 6 p.m. Free. The Kennedy Center is located at 2700 F St. NW. 202-467-4600.

Thursday, Sept. 19

Get dirty by cleaning up. Volunteer in the Ocean Conservancy’s 28th Annual International Coastal Cleanup this weekend at Oronoco Bay Park in concert with the City of Alexandria. The annual statewide event helps clean waterways and collect data about trash and litter. Volunteers meet at the end of Madison Street near the Rowing Clubhouse in Old Town. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Volunteers should RSVP by Sept.19 to jeremy.hassan@alexandriava.gov.  Registration also will occur at the end of Madison Street Saturday morning.

Friday, Sept. 20

The Old Town Boutique District in Old Town Alexandria is holding its 6th annual Scavenger Hunt. From Friday to Sunday, visit all of the Old Town Boutique District stores and get your passport stamped to receive a swag bag and a chance to win prizes.
