The 2013 Summer Bucket List: What's On Yours? It's Not Too Late
There's still time to cross off fun summer "to do" items on your list.
by Mary Ann Barton
There's still time to wring the last bit of summer out of August as Labor Day weekend and school start dates loom in the distance. (And if youreally want to get more out of your summer, you could push it, and celebrate with s'mores on Sept. 21, before fall officially begins on Sept. 22, at 10:49 a.m.).
A "to-do" list for summer might sound counter-productive. Summer is supposed to be relaxing, and not a list of chores to be checked off.
But if you're looking for ways to get the most out of these summer days before the flip-flops are put away, here are a few ideas culled from social media sites:
From Pinterest 2013 Summer Bucket List
- Watch the sun set and take photos together. (Try the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.)
- Watch the sun rise at Bethany Beach. (Hitch a ride on DC2NY.)
- Tie-dye some shirts.
- Get a pen-pal. (Try Amazing Kids pen-pal site.)
- Visit the zoo. (See what's doing daily at the National Zoo.)
On Tumblr:
- Play mini-golf.
- Go bowling. (Find a Bowl America bowling alley here.)
- Blow bubbles. (Try one of the big bubble wands from Toys R Us.)
- Go camping. (Try Pohick Bay in Lorton.)
- Ride a Ferris wheel. (Try the Americana at King's Dominion.)
