Government Shutdown Postpones Wilson Bridge Half Marathon

Alexandria race pushed to Nov. 10.

The federal government shutdown has officially put a hitch in the giddyup of area runners: The furlough has forced the postponement of Sunday’s Wilson Bridge Half Marathon to Nov. 10.

Organizers made the announcement Wednesday on the race’s Facebook page.

The race starts at Mount Vernon Estate and ends at National Harbor, traversing the George Washington Memorial Parkway along the way. U.S. Park Police have to staff the parkway during the race and personnel aren’t available because of the shutdown.
