Athlete of the Week: Jalen Dawson

Nets highest output since season-opener

Jalen Dawson has been relatively quiet since scoring 16 points in West Potomac's first game of the season, taking a backseat to fellow guard Daryl Copeland.

Dawson came back with a vengeance last week, scoring 15 points in a win over West Springfield.

His efforts earned him Fort Hunt Patch's Athlete of the Week.

West Springfield kept the game close until the fourth quarter, when Dawson and Copeland teamed up to make the game a blowout. Dawson's consecutive 3-point plays buried the Spartans.

“I expected that. We’ve got veterans in the backcourt,” West Potomac Coach David Houston said. “We had a good practice on Saturday. Today we knew defense was going to spark our offense.”

Dawson and the Wolverines return to action Tuesday against T.C. Williams.
