New Writers Group at Sherwood Regional Library

Do you like to tell stories? Is there a novel that has been knocking around in your head for a while? Have you been working on a memoir? Are you a writer who would like to explore other genres? Sherwood Regional Library is starting a writers group for aspiring authors, the NaNoWriYers, which will meet twice per month on the first and third Saturdays. Join us for our first meeting on January 18, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The group’s name comes from National Novel Writing Month, otherwise known as NaNoWriMo, which takes place every November. You can find more information about the group at http://nanowrimo.org. For the first meeting, the group requested a Viking helmet as inspirational décor. Amazingly, library staff produced one, and the rest is history!

This writers group wants to capture the energy and creativity inspired by the NaNoWriMo challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days and will be exploring different types of fiction and non-fiction. Please join us to write and share your work!

Sherwood also hosts a poetry read-around and two reading groups. Please take a look at the programs offered throughout Fairfax County Public Library at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library/events/. Plan to start the New Year writing YOUR story!
