Garden Art at Sherwood Library

Pink flamingoes, round-bellied gnomes and gazing balls are a few of the things that come to mind when we think about garden art. The many beautiful, practical, and whimsical forms of garden art have a long history. On Saturday, April 26 at 2 PM at Sherwood Regional Library (703-765-3645) Kathy Frame from the Fairfax County Master Gardeners Association will present a brief overview of the history and function of garden art, which traces its origins to Ancient Egypt. Garden art forms increased and spread throughout the major civilizations to North America. The 20th century saw a turning point in the understanding of gardens. A collage of garden art forms through history will be showcased with an emphasis on examples of the present garden forms.

Kathy Frame is a lifetime educator with 15 years of classroom experience in biology and chemistry. In her present day job, she directs the USA Biology Olympiad. Kathy has started her seventh year as a Master Gardener and looks forward to playing in the dirt whenever she can.
