West Potomac Wolverines Close Season with 41-27 Win Over Titans

Demornay Pierson-El scores four touchdowns, including returning a 99-yard third-quarter kick-off.

The West Potomac Wolverines football team won their game against T.C. Williams Saturday, 41-27 at Parker-Gray Stadium, according to The Washington Post.

The Wolverines scored touchdowns in each quarter of the game, with Wolverines quarterback, sophomore Caleb Henderson, passing for 256 yards. T.C. Williams hung with West Potomac (which clinched a share of the district title with the win) for much of the first half. The Titans took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter and trailed just 14-10 at halftime.

But the Titans could not slow West Potomac playmaker Demornay Pierson-El, who caught five passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Pierson-El also returned a third-quarter kickoff 99 yards for another score.

Other West Potomac receiver leaders, according to the Post, were Tyrone Jenkins, Joseph Marinelli and Keaton Labyzon.

Titans quarterback Alec Grosser threw for two second-half touchdowns in the loss, one on an 18-yard completion to Landon Moss and another on an 82-yard toss to Percy Haskins. Senior tailback Za'Quan Summers also rushed for a score for the Titans. Senior kicker Manuel Benites connected on field goals of 28 and 29 yards to round out the scoring for T.C. Williams.

Good on ya, WestPo football. Now keep it going, hone your skills, and enjoy continuous full-contact excitement by playing high school rugby in the spring. Talk to Coach Roach, or see our website at www.fhyaa.org/rugby. Orientation meeting for players and parents on 7 December, 7:00pm, Sherwood Library (see Patch calendar for full details).
