The West Potomac High School orchestra put on their fall concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Alexandria-area high school (video above). Parents, friends, faculty and staff came out to enjoy the students' performance. The orchestra was led by director Alicia Day Javkhlan.
The concert and symphonic orchestras include about 80 students who play various instruments including the violin, cello, viola, french horn, bass, oboe, tuba and trumpet.
According to the Orchestra Booster Club President Lori Spector, the orchestra is always looking for volunteers to support the students' program. The orchestra is also accepting donations to help fund music, instruments, guest conductors and other expenses for the program.
The orchestra has a few upcoming events in the area. The group will have Restaurant Night from 4 p.m. to closing at Mama's Kitchen on Fordson Road. They will also have a holiday concert combined with the band, choir and guitar programs at 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
