Stratford Landing Hosts Silent Auction and Ice Cream Social -- Fabulous Auction Items and Raffle Baskets, Ice Cream, and Entertainment

Alexandria, VA – Stratford Landing Elementary School will host its annual Spring Fling Silent Auction and Ice Cream Social on Friday, March 23, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Stratford Landing located at 8484 Riverside Road in Alexandria.

There will be ice cream served in the cafeteria by teachers and volunteers and a local DJ will play music in the gym for kids to enjoy a dance party while parents browse the various auction items and raffle baskets donated by families and businesses from the community.  There is no charge for attending the event, except for any items purchased during the auction or raffle tickets for ice cream.

Following is the schedule of events:

6:00 pm - Close       Registration for auction numbers

6:00 pm - 7:00pm    Ice Cream Social

6:30 pm - 8:15 pm   Auction Opens!

7:00 pm - 8:15 pm   Dance Party in the Gym 

8:15 pm                   Auction Closes

8:20 pm                   Raffle Basket Drawing in Gym

8:25 pm                   Winning bidders are posted

8:30 pm                   Checkout Opens

Themes for this year's raffle baskets include American Girl, IPad Mania, Backyard Fun, Legos, Game Night, All About Dogs, and Treat Yourself, to name a few.  Items for the baskets are donated and assembled by students, teachers, and parents.

“Stratford Landing’s Spring Fling and Silent Auction is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a night out with your family, socialize with friends and neighbors, and raise some money to help benefit our children’s education, support our teachers, improve our school, and reach out to members of our community,” said Michele Nellenbach, PTA President at Stratford Landing.

“This event would not be possible without the generosity and hard work of the entire Stratford Landing community.  We are grateful for the support of those parents, teachers and community businesses that have helped make the Silent Auction so successful each and every year,” said Frances Sankey, this year’s Spring Fling Chairperson.

For over 10 years, the Silent Auction has raised thousands of dollars for worthwhile programs benefiting students, teachers and families at Stratford Landing and throughout the community, including funding for field trips and performing arts programs, updated technology, new library books, and establishment of a Discovery Garden used by students and teachers.
