Coaches' Corner: West Potomac v. Centreville in Playoffs

The Wolverines will take on the Wildcats Friday night in their first postseason game.

Friday night, the West Potomac Wolverines will play against the Centreville Wildcats in their first postseason game at 7:30 p.m. at Centreville High School at 6001 Union Mill Road.

The Wolverines ended their regular 2012-2013 season with a 6-4 record; one of their wins was against the Wildcats earlier in the season. The Wildcats ended the regular season with a 7-3 record and are looking forward to another opportunity to play the Wolverines.

"We have a second chance to play a team that beat us early in the season, and we hope to take advantage of that second chance," said Wildcats Head Coach Chris Haddock. "I also think we have improved in all areas of play and feel like we are hitting on all cylinders."

Haddock said that, like last time, the Wildcats will have to focus on their primary issue: stopping Demornay Pierson-El, who Haddock referred to as one of the best running backs in the area.

Pierson-El was out of the Wolverines' last game against T.C. Williams for a minor ankle sprain. However, Head Coach Jeremiah Davis said he'll be ready to play Friday night.

"We're still in good shape going into the postseason," Davis said after losing to T.C. Williams last week. "Demornay will be back and better than ever."
