Readers’ Choice: Best High School in Fairfax County

Show some school pride and vote for your alma mater.

Update: You nominated eleven high schools across Fairfax County, and now, five have moved on to the voting round of Patch's Readers' Choice 2012.

Here's your chance to put your money (er -- vote) where your mouth is. Cast a vote for Centreville (Centreville), George C. Marshall (Falls Church/Vienna), Madison (Vienna), McLean (McLean) or South Lakes (Reston) High Schools to help crown a winner.

Voting opens July 23 and continues through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 17. Only one vote per user — tell your friends and family to log on to pick their favorite, too!

Original: Fairfax County is home to some of the best high schools in the country — not the least being Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, which was ranked no. 2 in the country by U.S. News earlier this year.

But there’s more to great high schools than national magazine rankings. Awesome teachers, school spirit and myriad other factors count.

So you tell us -- which high school in Fairfax County is the best? Only one can be crowned the Patch Readers’ Choice Best High School.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a high school is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the one you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all high schools in the county to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Not about the test scores, about the best place to be, best teachers, students and wonderful environment! Home of the Seahawks and darn proud of it!

DW test sxores are not all that make a school the best. I think that good teachers and well rounded students involved in meaningful extra-curricular activites are what make a school a great place to lean. Madison offers that. Go Warhawks!!!

Marshall. I went straight to college after my junior year because Marshall had such a good rep. That was many years ago so I can't speak to today's Marshall, but historically it was the best! It laid a great foundation for my ability to excel in college and law school!
