Westgrove Park Planning Documents Now Online

Comments on park's future use are still being accepted.

Local residents who missed a July 30 public information meeting on the future of Westgrove Park can now review documents presented at the meeting and summaries of comments on the project website.

The website includes all maps, photographs and diagrams shown during the meeting. A meeting summary, including spoken comments, is also available for download on the project website.

Currently, comments from the meeting are being reviewed by the Fairfax County Park Authority, which is conducting the master planning process for the park. The park authority is also conducting additional site analysis.

Westgrove Park, located off Fort Hunt Road just south of l, covers 21 acres and is the former site of a sewage treatment plan. It has been gated and largely unused for years.

On July 19, the Fairfax County Planning Commission on an interim use basis for two years.

At the July 30 public meeting, local residents suggested various uses for the now-unused park, including leaving it as a natural area, installing a permanent off-leash dog park or turning part of the park into a rugby field.
