Want to Thank the Navy SEALs?

Sen. Mark Warner's Web site features a 'thank you' page

It’s been all over the news: The Navy SEALS, an elite group based near Virginia Beach, are responsible for carrying out the mission to capture and kill terrorist Osama bin Laden.

But there won’t be any parades or public ceremonies, due to the danger of retaliation, according to news reports.

That’s why Virginia Sen. Mark Warner (D) has set up a special page on his official Web site where visitors can leave their comments. Warner plans to deliver them to SEAL commanders. “These Navy commandos can never be celebrated at parades, press conferences or photo ops," Warner is quoted as saying on the site. "But I believe a lot of Virginians, and many Americans, would like to say ‘thank you.' "

“Through their intensive training, extreme precision and the quiet effectiveness that has always been their trademark, these Navy SEALs succeeded in an extraordinary mission," Warner said. "I am proud of them, and I look forward to sharing these messages of support with members of our Navy SEAL community.”
