Where and When to Vote
Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. People in line before 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Due to statewide redistricting, some voters may be going to a different polling location than in past years. You can easily look up your polling location through the Virginia State Board of Elections website.
Absentee Voting

Absentee voting started in July. The last day to vote absentee in person is Saturday, Aug. 20. Absentee ballots must be received by the elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23. Complete information on absentee voting is available on the Fairfax County government website.

WHO’S ON THE BALLOT TUESDAY
State Senate – 36th District
Jeffrey M. Frederick and Tito Munoz are facing off in a heated Republican race. The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face Democratic incumbent Toddy Puller, who has served in the Virginia State Senate since 2000. Puller was a state delegate from 1992 – 2000. Frederick was a member of the House of Delegates; Munoz is a business owner.

Fairfax County Sheriff
Two Republicans, “Wes” Kammerer and William Cooper, are facing off in the Aug. 23 primary. The winner will face current Sheriff Stan Barry in November.

The following races will not appear on the Aug. 23 ballot since none are primary challenges, but these candidates will appear on the ballot in November.

Board of Supervisors Chair
Incumbent Sharon Bulova is being challenged by one Republican (Michael “Spike” Williams) and two Independent candidates (Will Radle and Glenda Gail Parker).

Incumbent Democrat is running unopposed. He has served as Mount Vernon District supervisor since 2000. Website
