Obamas Celebrate Anniversary in Old Town Saturday Night

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama dined at in Old Town Alexandria Saturday night to celebrate their wedding anniversary, according to restaurant management, who tweeted the news while the Obamas were dining there. 

The neighborhood surrounding the restaurant Saturday night was fairly quiet, most likely due to chilly 50-degree weather and a light rain falling. A motorcade of black cars sat outside the restaurant. Other cars and an ambulance sat less than a block away on Prince Street, near the restaurant.

The owners of the restaurant are award-winning chef Cathal Armstrong, who originally hails from Dublin, and his wife Meshelle; Cathal Armstrong is founder of Chefs as Parents, promoting healthy eating habits for children (Restaurant Eve is named for their daughter Eve and they have another restaurant , named for their son).

Armstrong has worked closely with the first lady on her initiative to help children eat healthier meals and is reportedly working with Alexandria City Public Schools to make school lunch menus healthier.

The Obamas' anniversary is Monday. The two were wed on Oct. 3, 1992, in Chicago.

The Obama family has made several forays into Alexandria, including stops at:
