Northern Virginia Primary Race Attracts More Than $500,000 in Donations

Three Democrats vying for state Senate District 30 seat meet in primary August 23rd.

Three area Democrats facing each other in an August 23rd primary in Virginia's Senate District 30 race have raised more than $500,000 among themselves, with candidate Rob Krupicka out front in the money race, according to figures from the Virginia Public Access Project.

The lone Republican, Tim McGhee, has raised $3,079 and will face the winner of the Democratic primary.

Krupicka, a member of the Alexandria City Council, has raised the most of the three Democrats, at $201,154. Adam Ebbin, a state House delegate, has raised $186,082 and Libby Garvey, a member of the Arlington School Board, has raised $163,730.

Garvey's contributions included $20,000 from the state senator who is vacating the Senate seat, Sen. Patsy Ticer (D-30th), who donated $10,000 to Garvey in the first and second quarters. Ticer also donated $500 to Ebbin.

On June 30th, Ebbin had $70,388 cash-on-hand; Garvey had $88,815 and Krupicka had $44,773.
