How, Where to Vote in Virginia's Democratic Primary Election

With the Democratic Primary Election less than a week away, you should be making sure you have everything in order to vote next Tuesday.

Don’t worry, we’re here to help.

The registration period for the primary has closed so if you haven’t registered, it’s too late. If you aren’t sure of your registration status, you can look it up on the Virginia Election Registration Information System.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11.

What You’ll Need

Make sure you bring an acceptable form of identification to the polls. The following options will get you through the door:

  • Virginia voter registration card
  • Valid Virginia driver's license
  • Military ID
  • Any Federal, Virginia state or local government-issued ID
  • Employer issued photo ID card
  • Concealed handgun permit
  • Valid student ID issued by any institution of higher education located in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck indicating the name and address of the voter
  • Social Security card (*please see below as the social security card does not satisfy special federal ID requirements)

A voter who does not bring an acceptable ID to the polls will be offered a provisional ballot.
