Friends of the Sherwood Regional Library to Have Discussion on Fairfax County Library Changes

The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.

The public is invited to attend the September meeting for the Friends of the Sherwood Regional Library to discuss possible changes in the Fairfax County Public Library system. The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Sherwood Regional Library.

Previously, a few Fairfax County Supervisors addressed some misinformation about the library changes including the procedure for discarding books and rumored cuts.

In a community meeting on Sept. 11, the Fairfax County Library Board voted to suspend the controversial pilot program. The Board has decided to gather more input from local officials and the community before reducing staff and consolidating help desks.

The Sliders, a a quartet of the Harmony Heritage Singers, will provide entertainment before the meeting begins. Don Heinrichs, Mount Vernon Library Board Trustee and treasurer for the Friends, will attend the meeting to clarify recent decisions about county libraries and answer residents' questions.
