Fort Hunt residents living in the 8th Congressional District voted decisively in favor of Democrat James Moran over Republican candidate J. Patrick Murray, but by a smaller margin than in the district overall.
Democratic candidate Gerry Connolly captured more Fort Hunt voters living in the 11th Congressional District than Republican candidate Keith Fimian. Currently less than half of a percentage point gives Connolly the lead over Murray, but right now election officials are recanvassing all precincts in Fairfax County.
Most precints in Fort Hunt reported that at least 50% of registered voters in their area made it to the polls, with most precints attracting a little over 1,000 voters.

Sherwood and Hollin Hall--along with most voters in the 8th Congressional District--voted Democratic this year. Close to 54 percent of residents in the Hollin Hall precint voted for James Moran, while only 45 percent voted for Patrick Murray. Moran was able to capture 56 percent of voters in the Sherwood precint, while Murray only won 43 percent of the vote in that precint.
In the 8th Congressional District, Moran took 61.01 percent of the vote to top Republican challenger Patrick Murray and claim an 11th term in Congress.

The race was closer among Fort Hunt residents living in the 11th Congressional District. Republican candidate Keith Fimian won 51 percent of the vote in precint Fort Hunt, with Democrat candidate Gerry Connolly winning only 48 percent of voters in that area.
The other two precints in Fort Hunt--Stratford and Waynewood--voted Democratic, with Connolly taking close to 52 and 50 percent of their votes respectively.
