Del. Scott Surovell, Sen. Toddy Puller and Sen. Adam Ebbin will host their third annual legislative town hall later this month.

On the agenda is Medicaid expansion, ethics reform, mental health, and transportation issues including the Route 1 multimodal study and a hybrid tax.

The town hall will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Mount Vernon Government Center on 2511 Parkers Lane in Alexandria.

This is a valuable event hosted each year. Calling it a "legislative" town hall is a bit of a misnomer. By this point in the session, each has not only filed all the bills s/he intends to file, but has also made up his/her mind on issues. It should more properly be called an explanation of what they're doing. I attend most years and, while citizens are invited to speak, their input does little to nothing to sway opinions. This is a square-filler, as are the "surveys" that don't arrive until after legislation is filed.
