Robbery, Attempted Robbery Reported in Mount Vernon District

The following information was supplied by the Fairfax County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Fairfax County police are investigating a robbery and a separate attempted robbery that both occurred on North Kings Highway in the week leading up to Aug. 24.

The first incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. Aug. 17 at a business in the 5800 block of North Kings Highway. Employees reported that a man entered the business, brandished a handgun and demanded money. He ran from the store with cash from the register. No one was injured.

The attempted robbery occurred at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 18 at the intersection of North Kings Highway and James Drive. A 22-year-old man reported he was walking by the road when someone grabbed his back pocket and demanded money. He swung at the attempted robber, and a second culprit pulled out a knife. The suspects left without taking anything.

In separate and unrelated incidents:

  • An assault was reported at 12:10 a.m. Aug. 18 at a business in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway. A customer returned after hours to return food items and was told he would need to return in the morning. He then became irate and struck the manager. Timothy Foster, 40, of Alexandria was charged with assault. The victim received minor injuries.
  • Destruction of property was reported at 5:25 p.m. at a business in the 1800 block of Old Richmond Highway. Employees reported someone forced entry into a cashier’s office. Nothing was taken, but the door was damaged.
  • A burglary was reported at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 21 at a residence in the 8500 block of Sky View Drive. The resident reported that someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Police could not determine how the burglar entered the home.
  • Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Belle View Boulevard.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence in the 3800 block of El Camino Place.
  • A wallet was reported stolen from a business in the 2300 block of Huntington Avenue.
  • Liquor was reported stolen from a business in the 6200 block of North Kings Highway.
  • A laptop computer was reported stolen from a residence in the 6400 block of Pickett Street.
  • Baseball cards were reported stolen from a residence in the 7500 block of Republic Court.
  • A purse was reported stolen from a business in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway.
  • A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 7500 block of Richmond Highway.
  • A wallet was reported stolen from a business in the 7600 block of Richmond Highway.
  • Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 7700 block of Richmond Highway.
  • A cell phone and wallet were reported stolen from a business in the 7900 block of Richmond Highway.
  • Groceries were reported stolen from a business in the 8600 block of Richmond Highway.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from a business in the 5700 block of Woodlawn Green Circle.
  • A 2004 Dodge was reported stolen from the 6000 block of Richmond Highway.
  • A 2000 Ford was reported stolen from the 8600 block of Village Square.
