Police: Woman Charged with DWI, Assault on an Officer

The following information was supplied by the Fairfax County Police Department in the most recent daily reports released May 28. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The following items are from the recent daily activity report from the Mount Vernon Police District of the Fairfax County Police Department.

DWI/Assault (blue on map), 1:05 a.m., May 27, Fordson Road/Richmond Highway, An officer stopped a vehicle and charged the driver with DWI. During the arrest process, Mary Sander, 53, of Fort Belvoir, allegedly stuck the officer. She was charged with DWI, obstruction, refusal, and assault on a police officer.

In separate and unrelated incidents:

Burglary (red on map), 6:40 p.m., May 24, 3800 block of El Camino Place, A resident reported someone entered the home and stole clothing. Forced entry was made through the front door.

Assault (blue on map), 1:20 a.m., May 25, Frye Road/Madge Lane, A 37-year-old man reported he was assaulted by three Hispanic men. The victim was able to fight off the suspects, but received a minor puncture wound. He was treated at the hospital.

Robbery (gree on map), 2:50 a.m., May 25, Seven Woods Drive/Tamarind Street, Two men 47 and 21 years of age reported an unknown man surprised them, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The victims were not injured. The suspect fled with cash and jewelry. The suspect was described as male, black, 20 to 30 years old, approximately five feet 10 inches tall and 165 pounds. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in a search of the suspect.

Unlawful Entry (yellow on map), 7 p.m., May 25, 2300 block of Nordok Place, Officers responded for an alarm. The found evidence someone entered the building. No one was located and nothing was stolen.

Fight (purple on map), 5:10 p.m., May 26, 8700 block of Richmond Highway, Officers responded for a fight. Several women were found fighting but none were seriously injured. Following an investigation, Iterria Garret, 28, of Alexandria, was charged with assault. Candace Garrett, 27, of Alexandria, was charged with one count of strangulation and three counts of assault.

Robbery (green on map), 10:40 p.m., May 26, 6300 block of South Kings Highway, A 27-year-old man reported an unknown man approached him, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash. The suspect fled with the victim’s wallet. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as male, black, 20 to 30 years old, approximately six feet three inches tall and 185 pounds.

Burglary (red on map), 4:10 p.m., May 27, 2700 block of Menniefield Court, A resident reported someone entered the home and stole electronics. Forced entry was made through a window.

  • 7700 block of Richmond Highway, 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
