The noise was the burglar smashing a rear window of the townhouse with a large hammer, like the kind roofers use. The suspect was described as a young African-American male, medium build, wearing a dark blue/black knit cap with a light-colored letter on the front and a dark blue/black long-sleeved sweatshirt. This fits the pattern of several other burglaries in our area - broad daylight around 11am, entry by breaking rear door or window. The townhouse had a 6ft tall stockade fence which provided him some cover, and he was able to climb over it and flee with ease. Our neighborhood watch is on alert for this serial burglar now. His days are numbered.
