Outdoor Fire Spreads to Four Backyards in 22307

Flames were more than 10 feet in height and had engulfed three storage sheds, trees, and bushes.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to an outside fire Monday at approximately 5:30 p.m., in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The fire was located in the vicinity of Mary Baldwin Drive and Kenyon Drive.

Firefighters encountered a brush fire spreading to several backyard storage sheds upon arrival. Flames were more than 10 feet in height and had engulfed three storage sheds, trees, and bushes. 

Despite the strong winds, firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. The fire had spread to four backyards before it was extinguished. No one was displaced. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
