They just up and arrested him? Maybe those officers could use a little coaching. Here was a good opportunity to call out the swat team for a "hostage situation" or at least a "barricade situation". That way, this incident could provide material for the Police Department's next grant application to the Department of Homeland Security for more military-style stuff. Did they just walk up to this guy and take away his BB gun? That is so last century! Well, I hope they at least described Mr. Presley's threats as "terroristic threats" in the charging document.

to Patch Editor, Raytevia Evans: What proof do you have that the man arrested is from Alexandria? Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital is in Fairfax County, as I hope you know. That's why the Fairfax County Police responded to this incident. Where does this fellow live? Perhaps he lives in Fairfax County, somewhere near the Hospital. Do you have his home address?

oldtowner, As stated in multiple articles, these are crimes listed by the FAIRFAX COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT. They in no way have anything to do with the city of Alexandria unless otherwise stated. Fairfax County has an area referred to as the ALEXANDRIA AREA OF FAIRFAX COUNTY. That includes, Mount Vernon, Hybla Valley, Fort Hunt, Belle Haven and Huntington areas — all located along the Route 1 corridor. Some people even refer to the Kingstowne and Rose Hill areas as part of the ALEXANDRIA AREA OF FAIRFAX COUNTY. It's a general description, that once again, has absolutely nothing to do with the city of Alexandria. oldtowner, you're not the first to complain about the description or the reference. But for police & fire news that is directly related to the city of Alexandria and Old Town, visit Old Town Alexandria Patch. You can also visit West End Alexandria and Del Ray. These crime blotters are specifically for the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. Thanks.

Ms. Evans: I've lived in NO. VA for over 30 years.....most of that time in Alexandria. But I have also lived in Fairfax County, just south of Alexandria. (Do you know that the Alexandria City limit is basically the Beltway, on the south side?) I am quite aware of all the jurisdictions and how some people refer to the "Alexandria Section of Fairfax County." Again, that refers to a mailing address. Do you think that part of Alexandria is actually in Fairfax County? Or that part of Fairfax County is in Alexandria. Again, I think it is your responsibility to report things accurately. Things either happen in Alexandria or in Fairfax County....they two political entities to not overlap. Likewise, people either live in Alexandria or Fairfax County....they pay taxes to either Alexandria or Fairfax County. When you call "911" either the Fairfax Police or the Alexandria Police respond. I look at many of the various "Patch" newsletters...and you seem to be the main editor who thinks that Fairfax and Alexandria somehow overlap.

also, Ms. Evans.....a good way to determine where someone lives is where they vote.....I vote in Alexandria.....and when I live in "the Alexandria section of Fairfax County".....ta da! I voted in Fairfax County.....Fairfax County has an elected Board of Supervisors; Alexandria City has an elected Mayor and City Council......They are different governing bodies and each has it's own governmental departments.....and separate school systems. I still think your news articles should be as accurate as possible. When I see an article with a headline such as "Alexandria Woman Murdered" I assume it's an Alexandria woman (someone I might know), and not someone from Hybla Valley (altho still a tragedy).
