Man Dies in Two-Alarm Townhouse Fire in Alexandria

Police and fire investigators are investigating the cause of death.

Fairfax County firefighters responded to a call for a townhouse fire around 4 a.m. Thursday at 6902 Deer Run Dr. According to a news release from the fire department, an adult male was found deceased.

When units arrived, firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the front, side and rear of the home. Firefighters requested a second alarm because of the large volume of fire, officials said. More than 50 department personnel were on the scene after the second alarm was requested.

In a little less than an hour, firefighters were able to get the fire under control after conducting an aggressive fire attack. The home was a total loss and no other injuries were reported, according to the fire department.

Both police and fire investigators are investigating the cause of death. The name of the deceased will be withheld until notification of kin. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
