Former Alexandria Preschool Director Sentenced to Three Years Probation for Tax Evasion

Susan Valentine pleaded guilty to tax evasion in early July.

U.S. District Judge James C. Caheris sentenced Susan Valentine, former director for the Epiphany Weekday School (EWS) in Alexandria, to three years of supervised probation, on Nov. 1. The Fairfax County resident pleaded guilty to tax evasion in early July, according to an announcement made by the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

From 2008 to 2010, evidence shows that Valentine received a salary and also took additional funds from the school for herself and her family members. Even though Valentine earned an income during this time, she failed to file income tax returns or pay income taxes for 2008 through 2010, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Court documents from last week's sentencing show that Valentine will also have to pay restitution in the amount of $92,206, payable in equal monthly installments of $150, to commence within 60 days until paid in full.
