Alexandria Disc Jockey Charged with Rape, Aggravated Sexual Battery

Joseph M. Rivera, 34, is currently being held in Las Vegas before being extradited to Fairfax County.

Fairfax County police are charging a private disc jockey with multiple sex offenses. Joseph M. Rivera, 34, formerly of 724 Four Mile Rd. in Alexandria, worked as a private disc jockey in the region, according to an FCPD news release.

After police were made aware of Rivera's whereabouts in Las Vegas, they are now charging him with rape, aggravated sexual battery, animate object sexual penetration and two counts of unlawful filming.

According to FCPD, Rivera allegedly filmed several women without their knowledge and retained the films. Some of the women were also allegedly sexually assaulted. FCPD detectives have identified some of the victims. However, other victims are unknown to police.

Rivera worked parties and also hosted bartending competitions around the region. Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Adult Sex Crimes Unit are available to speak with victims at 703-246-7830. Incidents may go back several years.

Fairfax County police are working with other law enforcement agencies in the region  on this case. According to the release, police believe Rivera left the area around June 2013. Rivera is currently being held in Las Vegas and will be extradited to Fairfax County.
