Alexandria Students Raising Money For Jamestown Field Trip

Donate to local GoFundMe campaigns, like the one started by these Alexandria fourth-graders and others in Northern Virginia.

For those in a charitable holiday mood today, we highlight some local people that are asking for help.

Among those are fourth-grade students from Rose Hill Elementary School in Alexandria. The class turned to GoFundMe to help raise money for a field trip to the historic Jamestown settlement. Because of budget restrictions, the students have to pay for the trip themselves, and many families can’t afford the $40 per students it will take.

You also can browse other local campaigns by GoFundMe above to find a campaign you're interested in: They may be next door, or working to help people on the other side of the world.

Unlike other crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, GoFundMe focuses more on helping people fund very personal goals. So in addition to traditional charitable causes, you may find someone who is asking for help financing a car payment or paying for a honeymoon.
