Auditions announced for local Children's Theatre Company

High School Musical, Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on the Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre (MVCCT) stage this fall! The students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities.  Troy, the resident jock and brainy Gabriella, cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.  High School Musical is fun for the whole family.

Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday evenings September 9th and 11th at Bryant Alternative High School 2709 Popkins Lane, in Alexandria VA.

To sign-up for auditions, visit MVCCT’s website at http://mvcct.org/  Any child who falls into the age range ages eight to eighteen may audition. Typically the fall musical features 40-45 children.  Children must be 8 by the day of auditions   No exceptions can be made on this minimum age requirement.

MVCCT strives to stimulate and enhance the cultural life of young people by offering a creative outlet that helps them to develop poise, independence, and accountability through self-expression. Numerous studies clearly indicate the value of arts education in contributing to the emotional and educational development of young people. Research has shown that participation in arts activities is linked to higher academic performance, more community service, a higher level of self-confidence and discipline, and improved social skills.
