Keeping Kids Kool and Kreative!

Summer is in full swing and the biggest question on every parent's mind is, "How do I keep my kids busy this summer?" Well, here is a short list of ideas:

1. Summer Rec Pac - offered by Fairfax County Park Authority at 6 Mount Vernon sites: Woodley Hills, Woodlawn, Mt. Vernon Woods, Mt. Eagle, Cameron and the Bryant Center. This is a wonderful local program run from 8:30-3:30 Monday-Friday. Price is on a sliding scale and the kids have summer fun, learn new leisure and recreational skills, go on field trips, and meet new friends. For more information: Mike Bonneville at 703-324-5273

 2. Sports Camps/Variety Fun Camp/Kiddie Camp - Offered at Lee Rec Center, and on a smaller basis, at the George Washington Rec Center. These are weekly camps (helpful for those weeks when you aren't traveling, etc.) and are for children from 3 years old (Kiddie Camp at Lee District) to 14 years old (Basketball camp!). And they offer Afternoon Fun Camp for those that can't get moving in the morning! For more information: 703-922-9841 (Lee District) or 703-780-8894 (GW Rec Center).

3. Tennis Camps - provided by Mount Vernon Athletic Club tennis pros at area swim clubs in the mornings, as well as at the MTVAC site itself from 9-3, with aftercare available also. For more information: Jeremy at 703-360-7300 or your local swim club

Have a safe and active summer - Keep those kids moving!
