Runners Hit the Parkway this Sunday!

Cheer on local moms running group this Sunday in the GW Parkway Classic!

Sunday morning is the annual GW Parkway Classic 10 Miler! Hundreds of participants will be running from George Washington's Mount Vernon mansion into Old Town Alexandria.

One particular group is of special interest to me. They are a group of local mom's, some who have never run in a race before! They began running just a few month's ago, with this race as their personal goal. It is open to area women of all running experience - from beginner to well experienced. Their bond is that they are moms who want to get fit!

Trainer Lauren Milner is a Preganancy Post Partum fitness specialist and has been volunteering her time to train this group of Fort Hunt mom's to run either the 5K or the 10 Miler. They have been training 3-4 days a week in Fort Hunt Park and along the Parkway.

They are called the Mount Vernon Ladies Running Club — and I cheer their devotion and drive as they cross the finish line this Sunday! The group will continue to train and run for future events and to get fit - so anyone interested in joining the camraderie, please contact Lauren at LMilner@mtvac.net

Good Luck ladies - and see you on the Parkway!
