Alexandria Democratic Committee to Hold 8th Congressional District Straw Poll

The Alexandria Democratic Committee will hold an 8th congressional District straw poll. Twelve Democrats are running in the primary and one Republican is running for the office. Congressman Jim Moran (D) announced in January he is retiring from Congress.

The straw poll is set for Sunday, from 7-10 p.m., at Port City Brewing Company, 3950 Wheeler Ave. in Alexandria. In addition to the straw poll, there will also be craft beers and a buffet to sample. A flyer for the event says to "come celebrate the end of petition gathering season!"

There are currently 12 announced Democratic candidates:
