Your Take On The Village Wharf, Julie Houghton

Fort Hunt Patch readers respond to news of the week

Now that The Village Wharf is gone Patch readers had plenty of opinions about what should take its place.

"It would be great to have a really nice family sit-down restaurant, bistro or bar and grill on Fort Hunt as an alternative to Primo's." ---Manx Mum on facebook

"The Wharf space is large enough to house two businesses. This certainly offers an opportunity for other retailers to expand into this area. I know Trader Joe's has been looking to open more stores - this would be a perfect location. Or wouldn't it be great to have a MOMs (My Organic Market) closer than Del Ray." ---Mary Porter

"....TRADER JOES! YES! MOM--very cool---great space for TJs--so that is my vote!" ---Julie Ellis

Many of you shared your memories and thoughts about Julie Houghton, the iconic dance teacher in Fort Hunt.

"Kudos to Mrs. Houghton from our family! She's a great dance teacher, and really knows how to handle girls of all ages. We're at year 9, and looking forward to more!" --Janet Anderson

"Julie has the flair to be able to teach at any level and age group... After Julie opened her Dance Studio, I attended her adult workshop/tap and exercise classes - traveling in from DC. I now live in SC but make every effort to attend her recital in June. Beautiful costumes/music and choreography. One high-class lady who runs her studio in the same vein." -- Linda Hurst

"Hooray for Julie ! -- Both my daughters studied with Julie -- find one in the photos wearing red-devil horns. It has been over 20 years, and Julie's recitals are still creative and lots of fun.  I'm happy for her to receive long deserved recognition." -- Hank Williams
