West Potomac Students Selected for Global Student Leaders Summit

The students will meet and speak with former Vice President Al Gore.

Four students from West Potomac High School have been selected to meet and speak with former Vice President Al Gore at the Global Student Leaders Summit in Costa Rica in April.

Rachel Campbell, Max Leonard, Leigh Orleans, and Katherine Rausch will share their issues and findings at the Addressing Environmental Sustainability Conference, which will focus on the environmental challenges faced on Earth.

Environmental advocate Severn Cullis-Suzuki and former Costa Rican president Oscar Arias will participate in the conference, offering students an opportunity to work together using critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to solve global issues, according to a press release issued by Fairfax County Public Schools. Orleans, Rausch, Leonard, and Campbell were recently interviewed by Public Radio International for Living on Earth, an internationally syndicated environmental news program that broadcasts on NPR.

West Potomac students Jordan Schrage, Grace Callahan, and Alex Venzke will also be attending the summit.
